Training Tips 9 - Choosing to Innovate

Innovation is commonly accepted in business as a key component of growth and long term sustainability.

However, innovation means different things to different entities. For some it is process improvement, for others a focus on changing customer needs or simple problem solving. At the other end of the spectrum, some believe that nothing short of transformational change creating a new strategic order can be classified as true innovation.

The single common thread is the creation of a new change designed to beneficially impact business performance.

One approach to innovation is that of Continuous Improvement. Have a look at Ten Steps for Continous Improvement for some useful tips on implementing continuous improvement in your organisation.

For more guidance on this approach to innovation, WorldGAMES offers the module Continuous Improvement - one of the Manager Tool Kit self-help guides for those with a need to manage or deal with other people.

The new mini games pack Ten Innovation Activities that Create Miracles contains a variety of fun, experiential activities which encourage participants to challenge traditional mind-sets, think in new ways and create innovative solutions.

Game of the month: Un-Useless Inventions is a fun team innovation game that tests creativity and ability to think laterally.
